With the addition of Chase Shugart the roster sits at 41 players. Someone has to be removed soon. Maybe it is time to say goodbye to Williams?

I'd say it is well past time to say goodbye to Williams. But Ben seems to have the same affection for utility infielders as Huntington had. They keep bringing them home like stray puppies.

Reading from the Pirates Fest about the team wanting to embrace an "executing mentality." I was thinking, damn, there's a bunch of guys on this board who seem more than willing to execute some guys in the organization already.

There was an interview at yesterday’s Pirates Fest with McCutchen that appeared in today’s Post-Gazette. McCutchen, as one might expect, put the onus of winning on the players, dismissing any blame aimed at Nutting.

But there was something in the article that didn’t add up to that way of thinking. It was mentioned, according to Spotrac, that the projected payroll for 2025 is $64 million. While that’s deflating enough, later on the author of the article, Andrew Destin, stated that Nutting shouldn’t “be expected to afford Cherington the financial freedom to bring aboard top talent at any point in 2025”.

Shouldn’t be expected? Why not? BC could sign two $25 million players (the right ones, of course) and still be way, way under the league’s average payroll. Is winning the objective or not? It’s no wonder Nutting feels no pressure to try to improve when he has the media apologizing for him. Pathetic.
