Re: 2024 Off-Season Thread
And the surgery was to correct "chronic symptoms." It wasn't a new injury. this explains why Ben only gave up three players to get him. I wrote (tongue-in-cheek) last week about the Bucs possibly positioning the team to be sold. I only wish that was the outcome. The latest revelation abou...

Re: Spencer Horwitz
Heck when did this wrist injury occur? It did require surgery, but there has been no time frame set for the amount of time he will be out. With surgery I would bet he misses the majority of ST, then he will need rehab at AAA, or Altoona.

Re: 2024 Off-Season Thread
Just read Jason Mackey's article on Tommy Pham in todays Post Gazette I read a comment from Adam Wainright where he said that Pham has no tolerance for guys not playing hard and not giving their all.If that's the case, I can't wait for him to climb up a step ladder and get in Cruz's face. I too jus...

All kidding aside, maybe they could have an heir of the Waner’s , or Pie Traynor throw out the first pitch on Opening Day.icantwatch2 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2025 1:07 am I heard they signed Walter Johnson and Goose Goslin to contracts.

Re: Pham and Mazya or Mayza
I don't think Huntington signed anyone multi-year until Russell Martin in the 2012-13 offseason, after Huntington had been in place for five full seasons. They had a pretty good nucleus together by then, but no internal options at catcher - Rod Barajas and Michael McKenry had caught literally every...

Too bad Bowden isn’t our GM https://www.si.com/mlb/pirates/news/jim-bowden-urges-pittsburgh-pirates-go-all-in This is a good take by Jim Bowden, and I know he has more knowledge than me, but I still think signing a free agent like Grichuk or even Verdugo would be huge to the Pirates lineup. Many pe...

Re: 2024 Off-Season Thread
There is strong speculation that Verdugo will sign with the Astros for 15.2 million dollars. That is approximately a 6 million dollar increase than his 2024 salary. To me that seems like a little overpay for a player whose stats were down last year. I figured he would get around 8 to 10 million doll...

I guess the other 29 teams had no interest in him. I still wonder why he lasted this long on the Bucs roster.3pirates3 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 8:49 pm https://x.com/JeffPassan/status/1887963424778244474

Re: Pham and Mazya or Mayza
Soto. Alonso. Bellinger. Sherzer. Profar. Scott. Santander. Hernandez. Burnes. Goldschmidt. We get Pham. I too was hoping for something better than Tommy Pham, but this is the type of free agent signing our Front Office Brass pursues. Just like last year Michael Taylor and Tellez. Players they hope...
