Again no reason for Shelton to play VanMeter at 2nd or anywhere for that matter over guys like Chavis or Castillo. Both of these guys right now should be in the lineup somewhere everyday and yet Shelton continues to do this crap it’s incredibly frustrating.

Nice to see Thunderfoot Vogelbach back at leadoff where he belongs. ::)

Whether it's Shelton of Cherington determining playing time, the way they are doing is the worst possible way to develop players or even to see what they've got with them. Playing Park on opening day and then benching him until game 5 won't tell them anything about him. Most players don't perform well with sporadic play. For Vanmeter it's sit, play, sit, sit, play. For Chavis, it's been sit, sit, play and have a monster game, then play half a game and now sit again.

They had ST to figure out who they wanted to play. But the season is now underway and they're treating it like ST. Just getting a variety of guys some occasional ABs. Nobody thrives that way. If they want to see what Chavis or Park or VanMeter can do then put them in the lineup and let them go. If not, then let them be bench players. But all they are doing is setting them up to fail because no one thrives in this kind of system.

On the other hand, Reynolds and Hayes have played four games in five days. They must be exhausted.

If it is BC dictating how much a guy plays then he sure as hell picked the wrong guy to manage the team. I read in today's PG that it seems that Shelty is a great clubhouse manager but is not that good at on-field managing.

Then there is the metrics part of making a team and deciding who plays on a daily basis. If that is the case, then I think both BC and Shelty are overthinking what the metrics tell them and not using their gut feelings from time to time.

It would be nice to have more than 2 outfielders on the roster.

So Chavis and Castillo and Park keep losing playing time to Tucker, VanMeter, Marisnick, and Vogelbach.

I just ask that one or 2 of these guys do something just to calm my nerves.

Let's Go Bucs

This goes back to the why of the VanMeter pickup, which gets stranger as time passes. There was absolutely no reason to pick up a 27 year old with really no discernable MLB ability when you knew he was going to block prospects we had either brought through the organization or recently acquired.

Even if we send him to AAA, he'll be taking time away from prospects we are trying to develop. From the outset you could not explain this one.

Reynolds continues to impress defensively even though there are some members who think he is better suited to play left.
