I've seen enough of VanMeter. I think he's cemented his role as a run of the mill AAAA weak hitting, average at best fielding utility player. But I suppose Marcano, who might have a future with the team, needs to gain experience sitting on MLB benches. They're probably made of a higher quality wood than minor league benches. So since Marcano needs to learn proper MLB sitting techniques, the Pirates have no choice but to play VanMeter everyday.

Vanmeter again and not marcano. Why have him up?

Perhaps Shelton feels that Marcano isn't hungry enough yet --- meaning he needs more time on the bench --- to gain a start.

Or, reaching deep for other conspiratorial theories, perhaps he is concerned that the Padres know his weaknesses and that they will exploit such.

Regardless, I am in the camp of no more playing time for VanMeter.

If Shelton is willing to play Suwinski over the 'veteranoisity' of Marisnick (who is a great defender), he should be willing to take the same approach with Marcano.

A rarity, two runs in the first for the Bucs

The overused BP is faltering. Fletcher was a waiver pickup. Hembree was a not sought after FA who signed in mid March. These are not guys you build a strong BP with.
