4. Mike Moustakas (L) 3B

5. Tyler Stephenson (R) C

6. Colin Moran (L) 1B

7. Tyler Naquin (L) DH

8. Albert Almora Jr. (R) CF

9. Matt Reynolds (R) SS

Louis Castillo (R) SP

Bucs

1. Josh VanMeter (L) 2B

2. Ke'Bryan Hayes (R) 3B

3. Ben Gamel (L) LF

4. Daniel Vogelbach (L) DH

5. Yoshi Tsutsugo (L) 1B

6. Jack Suwinski (L) CF

7. Rodolfo Castro (S) SS

8. Diego Castillo (R) RF

Zach Thompson (R) SP

Would you rather have Reynolds on the bench today? Or VanMeter batting leadoff? Looks like Shelty is managing the Bucs to the draft lottery. I think that's called tanking.

Must've been VanMeter's .241 OBP that earned him that spot. :D

I don’t know how else it can be explained, Possum. It’s obvious that winning isn’t the priority. That leaves continuing to tank just this one more season. It’s exactly the right plan. I commend Cherington with staying with his plan.

I don't know if Shelton is following orders to tank or if Cherington is just letting Shelton be Shelton and letting the tanking take care of itself. But they clearly are not trying to win.

I wonder how Cal Ripken Jr. would have gotten along with

Shelton?
