How bad are the Pirates gonna botch this Oneil Cruz thing?

I'm predicting ... VERY BADLY.

What I would do:

* Put him at SS starting tonight.

* Leave him alone.

* Give him maybe 1 game off per week.

* Give him at least 2 months to play the position, regardless of how many errors he does or does not make. It's not like this team is competing for a playoff spot, and it's not like the current shortstops on the roster never make an error.

* Just let him have a few months to relax and play baseball without having to look over his shoulder and wonder every day if his name will be on the lineup card.

* This kid is the organization's top prospect and he at least deserves the chance to prove that he can -- or cannot -- play SS effectively.

What the Pirates will do:

* Rest him 3-4 games per week.

* Start him about 3 games per week.

* Jerk him around between SS and LF and RF

* Install Kevin Newman as the everyday SS as soon as he returns from industry.

I can already tell I'm going to get very frustrated watching the Pirates (mis)handle their top prospect over the next few weeks and months.

We're at .400.

How much more upset should you get?

I know that this is answering a question with one, but my own answer to that helps me chill more. I hope that it might for you, too.

Bright side, he'll be able to snatch high line drives that would be just missed by shorter shortstops. (no pun intended) [smiley=cool.gif]
