Cruz is almost an automatic K if the pitcher throws outside sliders or off speed pitches. He needs to greatly improve on his pitch recognition. I don’t want him to become a Dave Kingman

Cruz has been baffled today by the change up. He still misses on a lot of curves and sliders, but I think he is starting to lay off more of those pitches, and that is where the improvement starts. He needs to experience these pains at this level. That is why I hope Suwinski returns soon. He could use another 100-150 at bats this season.

Godoy is out of the game with an injured right arm.  I hope he is not out very long. :( :( :( :(

Brown says that Godoy has muscle cramping and overall heat illness. It seems he should be able to go on the road trip.

In my mind Allen deserves credit for instinctive base running today. But I don’t really know what the Baltimore catcher was supposed to do on that play? I didn’t view him as trying to block the plate as much as he was just positioning himself to catch the ball. The Bucs have been on the other side of that call in the past…so let’s take the run.

HR Hayes! I’m sitting right behind home plate. The blocking of the plate was so obvious I wonder why it took so long to look at the film.

Hayes with the HR. That changed call results in 4 runs now.
