So what is the real reason for Contreras being in Indy?

I don’t buy the idea of limiting his innings but then having him pitch in Indy. What is the purpose of that?

I have to believe this is a case of player control manipulation.

Another inexplicable organizational decision. They don't want him to put too many innings on his arm so they start him in AAA instead of MLB. I hope his arm knows the difference. He's well past the point where he's missed enough time off the MLB roster so that 2022 does not count as a service year. So there is no player control issue to consider. Either shut him down or let the innings he pitches be in MLB and not AAA. When we see the bizarre way this organization operates, it's no wonder so many players who struggled here thrive when they go elsewhere.
