2-1 game: line drive hits Underwood in the butt and rolls away for a leadoff infield hit. Next batter lines a single to RF. Ground out puts runners at 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. Next batter singles to score 2 runs. 2-1 game becomes 4-1 thanks to Underwood.



Underwood has now been scored upon in 4 of his last 8 appearances. But Shelton sees no reason to pull Underwood. No one is even throwing in the BP. Next batter hits a hard single to put runners at 1st and 2nd. Shelton finally gets someone up in the BP. Underwood walks Varsho who was 0 for his last 27 against Pirate pitching. Another single plates 2 more runs as 2-1 has become 6-1. Finally, Ramirez is ready in the BP. He only started throwing 2 batters ago even though Underwood had given up 4 hits before that.



Shelton manages as if every game is the first he's ever seen. His incompetence is staggering.
