At least it's not Underwhelming VS DeGrom. That would be a NO

Bucs using the opener. I would rather have JVM going the 1st inning.

team is going to be depressed, maybe they will rally around with a battle cry of let's win two for VanMeter!

We all wonder why it took so long?

I am no pitching Coach but those of you who are watching,

look at Wilson. After every pitch, his follow through turns his

whole body to the left. I can't see him be able to field anything

to his right. Surprised they haven't addressed this

When JVM was still on the roster after the trade deadline, and then again after September 1, I was sure that he would survive the season. I am glad that I was wrong.

Also, why start Underwood? I just don't get Shelton.

I quit trying to understand Shelton long ago

The whole VanMeter episode is confusing. He was both a poor hitter and fielder with no future with the team when it was trying to give MLB experience to a lot of prospects. Every time he played, it took ABs away from those who could benefit. They finally limited his playing time in August but last week he made back-to-back starts, getting a hit in both games including a 2-run double. If that was a chance to save his roster spot, it would seem he had been productive and saved it. But he was DFA'd anyway. So not only do we wonder why he stayed on the roster so long but also why he took ABs away from someone else in those 2 games when they must have known they were going to DFA him regardless of how he played.

Also, Bryce Wilson has started 17 games for the Pirates this season and another 6 for Indy. And Underwood has been poor even in 1 inning appearances. So why did Underwood pitch the 1st inning only to be replaced by Wilson who pitches multiple innings.
