The treasure trove of players the Bucs gave up for Archer is proving to be not as rich as originally thought.

Glasnow out for the last year+.

Baz will likely be out through all of next year after missing most of this year.

Meadows traded for a part-time player and now out due to personal issues after a seasons worth of injuries and little production.

Rays still hold the edge on the trade regardless of how things work out going forward, but it goes to show that the careers of young players are often not as productive as we would think.

It is unfortunate that both Glasnow and Baz got hurt the way they did. Hope they recover and have solid careers. I honestly thought that Meadows was going to be a star. Middle of the order guy, who hit for power and average. Baseball is a funny game. Everytime you think you know what is going to happen, it goes in a different direction.

I still think Glasnow will recover and have some good years but the cold hard fact is MOST prospects don't really work out long-term, which should give us pause as we look forward to the arrival of Peguero, Swaggerty, Davis, Priester, etc.

Tampa signed Glasnow to that 2 year extension taking him up to his FA year. 5.25 million for 2023, 25 million for 2024.

This is a guy coming off TJ surgery. Tampa must like what they see in his progress.

30 million. What are the chances the Pirates pay a FA pitcher 30 million for 2 seasons?

Sadly here in Pittsburgh, successful prospects are all we can hope for.  The combination of MLB's purposeful inequity and Bob Nutting's ownership is a roadblock nearly impossible to overcome.
