I am beginning to like the starting lineup either against right handed or left handed pitchers.

Does he have much left?

I wanted to trade Marte to Cleveland for Santana and prospect Clevenger a few years back. Hopefully, the Pirates get a solid performance and the young guys get to play and learn from a respected vet for a few months, before he is traded.

He's SMOOTH.  :)

To your question, I don't see why not.  He's ancient- only by Pirates standards.  But, look at what other guys who were older have done.  Just last year, our very division....

So, he might not be Albert Puljos.  I'm still OK with him.

Because I don't compare him or expect him to be Albert Puljos.

He is better than the options we had on our team.  That's good enough for me.

I'm not looking to be better than the 2022 Astros.  I'm looking to be better than the 2022 Pirates.  We weren't that on Thursday.  We are today.

I realize that it's a low bar to jump over, but I've reached that outlook.  I'm not hard to please.

One add:

You can cash THIS check- guaranteed- and, if the guy busts, I will absolutely give Ben a pass, just as I've done with Huntington/Archer.

I prefer aggressive moves over passivity.  Better to try and to fail than to not even try.  It's how I roll.
