Predict Cherington's firing date.

Post by Bobster »

I think he's gone the day after the season ends. I hope it's sooner but I think he'll last the season.
Can anyone here play this game?

I agree, but it gives him time to commit further damage. I hope he doesn't decide to start gambling to save his job.

I'm basically seeing Shelton's dismissal as a PR move, for baseball reasons certainly but also to counter all the negative stories this spring that have painted a picture of a franchise in chaos. I don't think Cherington will be in much trouble if guys like Horwitz, Gonzalez, Yorke, Chandler, Burrows, and Jones contribute to a better second half.

If that happens maybe GMBC will be made a saint in the Catholic Church because he performed a miracle. Nutting just has to fire the asshole GM immediately.

For some reason, and I hate to say it, I think he'll get a long enough leash to about this time next season.

Since he's going to be here to oversee the draft next month, I'm thinking he'll get until this time next year to see how well that draft was conducted. If the players he selected get off to bad starts, he'll be gone before the 2026 draft takes place.

After last nights win over the Braves, I would say that we have to give Cherington
some credit for trading Rodolfo Castro for Falter
