I have been thinking how the Pirates could strengthen their lineup in 2025, and I remembered what Atlanta did prior to those seasons which took the Pirates out of the World Series. In 1991 and 1992 the Braves had the big 3 pitchers Smoltz, Glavine, and Avery. David Justice and Brian Hunter were a couple of their big bats. In the offseason of 1990 they signed Terry Pendleton as a free agent. He kind of solidified their offense. Now back to the Pirates, we have three strong starting pitchers in Keller, Jones and Skenes who knows maybe Chandler during 2025. We have some hitters such as Reynolds, Cruz possibly Cutch, as well as others. I know our owner is cheap, but suppose the GM gets the approval to sign a player such as Tyler O’Neal. His bat would surely give the lineup some length. Last week Reynolds was practicing taking ground balls, so is that a future move to first base for him ? Here is a projection for 11 of the 13position players: Bart, Endy, Reynolds, Gonzales, Yorke, IKF, Hayes, O’Neal, Cruz, DelA Cruz, Cutch. Maybe Triolo, Swiniski, Palacios or a couple veteran players to add to the bench. I would like to see the Pirates take the plunge for an experienced bat this offseason.

O'Neill would be a welcome addition, if he can provide power as he has in two of his seven seasons. The Bucs might reach 82 wins which, sadly, still wouldn't be enough to reach the postseason. If he hits like he did in the other five, we might get to 78 wins.
The Pirates need proven, consistent power hitters, like other playoff teams have. Otherwise, it's more mediocrity. If past history is any indication, Bob Nutting won't pay for that kind of player.
I really hate being negative about the Pirates but the reality is hard to overlook. We can only count on the organization doing what they've done in the past, not what they've said they wanted to do.

Here is my prediction:
Yankees will sweep the Pirates
Yankees are in a battle for home Field in the Playoffs
and the World Series if they get that far
Bucs607179 will win
the contest.
Players don't care
Monday will be locker clean out day
Players have already locked in Tee Times for Tuesday
I have been wrong many times this season

There's no freaking way I want GMBC & Shelty to be around after Sunday. Nutting has to get his brain out of his ass and listen to someone who can convince him to hire a GM who wants to win in a way that will cost Nutting mucho bucks.
