I'm okay with this lineup other than Grandal but he is Skenes' preferred catcher. I hope Shelty can pull another win out of his arse tonight.

What is Skenes going to do in 2025 when Grandal is gone?

Skenes with a rough first inning, with 27 pitches. He walked two but left the bases loaded without giving up a run.

Bucs load the bases in the 2nd but can’t break through. Still no score.

Cubs load the bases again but can’t score. Skenes is struggling with his control. He’s already thrown 54 pitches, only 30 for strikes. We go to the 3rd, still scoreless.

Bucs score a pair in the 3rd but Rowdy gets himself picked off at first to end the inning. 2-0 Bucs. Need Skenes to start taking control.

Again tonight opposing hitters have fouled off an inordinate number of pitches off of Skenes, especially with two strikes. I don’t know how he can change that but it costs him way too many pitches every outing.
