Predict Shelton's firing date thread

I'm not sure there is any Pirates fan who would be upset if Shelton were fired, if you're one, sorry.

There's some interesting choices available. Here's some thoughts to think over, and feel free to add yours too, along with a prediction.

Shelton fired after the Chicago series, as the Nationals come to town and there won't be many there at all, and it's a low profile series with two low profile teams.

If he survives being dismissed before returning home, I highly doubt he's fired during the longest homestand of the season. However, if the Bucs kwrap the bed against the Nationals and Marlins in the first 7 games of the homestand, we could see an interim for the KC series. If he survives the entire homestand, but they stink it up, I could see them firing him then, as they head out on the road to The Loo and Cincy.

They could also just pull the plug on the off day before they finish their last 3 home games against the Brewers, then finish on the road with three against the Yankees.

So some perfect times to fire a manager, there's usually a day that seems to work and make sense. I have two dates in mind: If they do poorly against the Cubs, embarrassed again like they were at home, he's gone right after. If they don't fire him then, I suspect he lasts through the entire homestand, and the following 7 game road trip. He gets fired on the off day before the Brewers series if they haven't won 10 of those 20 games. If he does, it's in the offseason. I think despite all the scenarios, he's fired right after the season.

All that said:
Surgnbuck: Right after the season
Bobster: Right after the season
Doc: Right before the Brewers series
Ebucs: Right after the season
GhostofPitthorn: Oct 4th
Javy: End of May 2025
Mouse: End of season (if he's fired, otherwise he might be here forever)
Wildwood: End of season
ican'twatch: won't be fired

I think he’ll be let go with about a week to go in the season.

So you're thinking the off day before the Brewers series? Because that's my second choice actually, as I don't believe they are going to be any better in September then they were in August. That would be the perfect in season time to do it, because the Brewers series is midweek and the final game a midweek day game, it will be so low keyed and practically missed. The final game might approach 15,000 fans, as that's fan appreciation day, and a chance to get a players jersey. They used to give away all kinds of stuff, season tickets, 10 game and 4 game ticket packages, televisions, you name it, now it's pretty much just a shot at a jersey from one of the guys on the 40 man roster. Knowing my luck, I'll finally win one and it will be Taylor's.

The players certainly must have this in the back of their minds. It will be interesting to see who looks like they don't want to be the reason he's fired.

It’s our fault that Fan Appreciation Day is so lame now. If the fans won’t support the club then the organization won’t show its appreciation to the fans. Remember, we have to show up first, pay major league prices to watch what amounts to a Triple A team, before the owner will pay for an actual major league team. So until we do that, keep your expectations for being appreciated low.

I heard on The Fan this morning a partial conversation with one of the Bucs Beat writers, and indicated he thinks Shelton will be back which really surprised me. He did say he will be on a short leash so the end of May 2025 could be correct. The writer did say he expects Haines will be let go at season’s end. If the Bucs have another month like August, I will say Shelton will be fired at the end of the season. Existing contract or not,if the Bucs record is not better than 2023 Nutting will make the change.

End of the season if he gets fired. I could easily see him back for next year. He may not be doing well overall but I don't think he causes any problems for management, which might be more important than on-field performance.
