That's good! He was eligible for free agency in 2026 so it buys out 3 FA years. They need to do more but it's a start. If Cruz has a good year, they should work on an extension for him too.

This is good news, but I can't help but think how many fans, me included, wanted him gone just a couple of years ago. Good for him that he never gave up on himself and found what he needed to be successful.

No question we fans are impatient, especially fans whose team hasn’t been to a World Series in 44 years. That’s compounded by the frustrations of seeing nearly every other organization have exceptional talent reach its major league club over and over again.
