Question For A Baseball Expert

Post by fjk090852-7 »

On the Pirates transaction page on their website it shows they activated both Endy, and Peguero on Dec 11th. They are on the 40 man roster why did they have to activate them ? I don’t remember them being on the IL at season’s end. Seems strange to me.

Can you give a link to that transaction report? I can't find it. Endy and Peguero were active thru the end of the season.

Rodriguez was officially assigned to the DR team Estrellas Orientales on Oct 31st. So he had to be activated once again to the Pirates. His next transaction will be being assigned to the 60 day IL once spring training starts. So it's not just losing him for a season, the Pirates now have a spot on the 40 man that for all intents and purposes needs filled, but can't be yet until he's on the 60 day. Could have taken a flier on a AAA guy who has some MLB experience, with an invite to ST to fill that void. So they'll have to wait.

I don't understand it either, here is link to Pirate transactions on December 11, if you look at all teams other players are activated too:

Your post from 10:14 is a great answer and makes sense. I never knew players in winter ball had there contracts assigned. I was typing my post with the link while you were posting so my post is shown at 10:15 (these aren't the actual times I don't know if we all see the same time or not but I know on my screen the time is off by several hours).

I never knew it either, I had to do some digging because that was a great question, and The Wizard sort of threw me up on stage, and I was sweating it out.
