The game today

I live in Gettysburg. So, as a result, I have not been able to watch the Pirates. Today, I had the opportunity because the game with the Giants was broadcast live over Peacock, the NBC channel. What I witnessed today was unbelievable. Here is a team, before the loss today, was 10 games under.500. But, I couldn’t believe what I saw in the Pirates dugout. There, in front of a live audience, were four players, led by the team leader, McCutchen, dancing before the game was to begin. UNBELIEVABLE!!! The four players were laughing and having a great time. I imagine that Shelton saw it. The others players who were dancing were all veteran players. Any manager with the desire to succeed would not have allowed this to happen. Personally, I hope that these four players, and that includes McCutchen, are traded or released by the trade deadline. And, for all of the McCutchen apologists out there, please don’t defend him.

They could release a guy like Santana to give a wake up call. Not going to get much in a trade anyway.Need to make room for Andujaur. Thats what I would do.

This is a tough one.  It’s not a good look when a team that’s spiraling downward give the impression that they don’t care by goofing around instead of putting on a serious face.  The expectation is that they be laser focused on winning.

But realistically, not everyone can be like Ty Cobb.  The game is so bloody hard, with the failure being not only non-stop, but happening in front of the whole world.  If the players didn’t blow off steam, they’d have mental breakdowns making things worse.  So it’s probably healthy that do stuff like pre-game dancing, but it might be better doing it out of the public eye.
