Win or lose, this is a big day in Bucco baseball.

This is the first day of what is planned to be the next core group to lead the Pirates to the postseason, with a few more to join them over the next year or two. These guys need to be in the line-up consistently the remainder of the year, although I’m not sold on Davis’ position being RF. I’m excited for the final two and a half months.

Game delayed, but no announced starting time yet.

Selfishly, I was hoping for a rainout, and a DH tomorrow with Priester starting the day game. I could have went to that.

And we’re underway.  Priester’s first major league pitch is a called strike and he retires Kwan on two pitches.  Then he gets Rosario on a groundout as well.  He completes a perfect first inning by getting Ramirez to groundout.  A nine pitch inning. Great start.

1-2-3 for Priester. That's a good start to a MLB career.

Suwinski starts the first by striking out.

Reynolds grounds out. I wish he’d start hitting like we know he can.
