They answered the call last night. If this team has a chance to make a run at the WC, we need Gerrit to get back on track and end this streak of boarder line starts. It's time for him to go into shutdown made like he did at the end of 2014.

Cole has been our weakest starter the last 3 times through the rotation. And this latest time through, Cole was bad last Friday followed by 4 straight quality starts from everyone else. Cole has GOT to get his act together. He was supposed to be a W every 5th day, not a big L every 5th day.



Our other huge problem today is the Astros starter. He's really bad and his ERA over his last 5 starts is 9.00. He has given up 40 hits in his last 23 innings.



This is EXACTLY the type of pitcher who will come into PNC and go 6 IP, 2 hits, 0 R, 6 Ks and then after the game all the Pirates will be quoted saying how great his stuff was.

Cole's 'pitcher with an attitude' routine is wearing thin with me without results. He needs to man up, gird his loins and give us a start worthy of a #1 today.

No, Cole has to be better than the Astros' line up. The Pirates' hitters need to be better than the Astros' pitcher.



I never understood why pitching match ups are hyped.

Bob Walk and Joe Block - I can't tell if Walkie is gigging Joe like he and Brownie do to each other or If Walkie has some bit of dislike of Joe. It seems like Bob digs pretty deep sometimes.
