Vin Scully

A friend invited me to see the Dodger game last night. I normally only go if the Pirates are in town. But this was a special night. It was the night to honor Vin Scully. Vin Scully has been announcing the game of baseball longer than I have been alive. I have childhood memories of listening to Vin on a transistor radio. Either under the pillow at night or at the beach, Vin was always there each summer. Vin was never a homer announcer. He always called the game as an impartial poet. Being a Pirate fan; I appreciated that. I don't listen to many Dodger games anymore; as I catch most of the Pirate games on Direct TV. But last night I felt a sadness that I will never hear Vin Scully's voice on the airwaves again. So many memories of summer with Vin's voice in the background. With all due respect to the Gunner; Vinnie to me is the greatest baseball announcer of all time. If you get a chance; you should you tube Kevin Costners speech from last night. There wasn't a dry eye in the stands.
