$100 million players

(I thought I posted this already, not sure what happened?)

Has a $100 million contract player won the World Series?

Alex Rodriguez won with the Yankees, but Texas was the one who gave him that huge contract.  The Yankees did pay him over $100 million too (the guy made over $440 million playing baseball).

How many won with the team that signed them?

I did some research:

Barry Zito won two titles with the Giants.

Derek Jeter won one title with the Yankees.

Manny Ramirez won two titles with the Red Sox.

Matt Cain won one title with the Giants.

Mark Texeira won one title with the Yankees.

CC Sabathia won one title with the Yankees.

Matt Holliday won one title with the Cardinals.

Albert Pujols won two titles with the Cardinals.

Buster Posey won one title with the Giants.

*Alex Rodriguez won one title with the Yankees.

I think there are 41 players who got a $100 million contracts.

The Giants had three players the same year. The Cardinals had two players. The Yankees had four players*. Outside of three teams, only one had a $100 million contract (Red Sox).

The Yankees had three of their players who contract started the year they won (2009). They haven't won since. Only a few of these players are still in baseball and making an impact.

Is this a good investment? I hope my research is accurate, I might have missed a few.

*Included A-Rod since he was extended/restructured by the Yankees*

I think Dustin Pedroia would also be on that list.

Maybe the 100 million contract isn't significant for the Pirates as they won't have one.

How about the number that win with x number of players not eligible for arbitration as that is the category the Pirates will fit.

I am wondering if it is significant for any team? Teams spending that money on a single player aren't winning World Series.

Yes, Dustin Pedroia did win in his first year of his $100 million contract (2013 Red Sox).

Good call. Makes another team who won too. Lester in his second year and Heyward in his first year of their contract.
