Dumb thing for him to say.  NH just became more likely to keep him.

There's doubtfully a talented player on the team that doesn't want out.   Bell, Taillon, anyone.   Saying it out loud makes it less likely to happen imo, because NH has no guts whatsoever.   Hes still sitting on the fence talking about competing next year..he may keep JHay just to use it as an example.

There's no doubt they announced the Rivero extension right after trading Cole and Cutch for that purpose.   Probably sitting on that one for a while.

Eventually, and the time is getting near, people are going to stop excusing NHs bumbling and incompetence as having his hands tied by Nutting.

Nutting is the worst.(one of the worst) owners in sports. NH is a clown GM working for him. The two aren't necessarily exclusionary.

According to MLB Network's, John Morosi, Harrison has immense trade value.

I would love to get an OF for Harrison. There should be a bunch of teams interested as some teams may want him to play 3B or 2B.

The problem is when his name came up as trade bait, there were more suitors. Toronto want once interested. They have since moved on by acquiring two middle infielders. So, the Yanks, which might not be enamored with NH right now ... Mets, who really don't serve as a good match (I see the name mentioned, but no names ever mentioned come back to the Pirates), maybe Colorado or Arizona.

Prior to being traded to the Giants, Andrew McCutchen was a known target of the Mets in trade talks. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic shines some more light on the matter (subscription required and strongly recommended), reporting that New York wouldn’t part with outfielder Brandon Nimmo for a one-year rental of McCutchen. New York still believes Nimmo will develop into a quality big leaguer, though Rosenthal adds that the team believes he could be part of a package in talks with the Pirates regarding Josh Harrison. The 24-year-old Nimmo, who was selected 13th overall in the 2011 draft, hit .260/.379/.418 with five homers and a pair of steals in 215 plate appearances as a rookie last season. It would seem that if the Mets are to entertain the notion of moving him, they’d prefer multiple years of control over whichever more established asset they acquire in his place.

Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News hears the same as Rosenthal, reporting that the Mets would indeed be willing to include Nimmo in a trade that would pry Harrison away from the Pirates. However, she adds that the Mets would not part with Dominic Smith in order to obtain Harrison, even with Gonzalez in the fold for 2018 and Bruce (who figures to see some time at first base) locked up through 2020. Ackert adds that the Mets were approached about Smith in multiple trade negotiations this winter but weren’t inclined to include him in any of the proposed scenarios. She also notes that Eduardo Nunez, Neil Walker and Jose Reyes are among the team’s potential infield targets in free agency.

I have seen the name. But, of the two deals the Bucs have made - how many original names mentioned like Nimmo here came back?

Personally, its pretty embarrassing when we don't have a "C" among our top 25 prospects. After Cervelli, who is fragile and I'm sure they would love to unload that contract, we have Diaz, who shows promise and then Stallings, who isn't good. We have no one after that of any stature. I would love to pry away Tomas Nido from the Mets.
