Pirates need another option at the catching position. When Cervelli gets hurt a combo of Diaz and Stallings leaves alot to desire?

I think they'll be fine with Diaz. Stallings is AAA insurance to become the backup when Cervelli goes on the DL.

There's no depth at all there. Cervelli will be on the DL by end of April if not sooner. There are always a few journeyman catchers floating around, i expect us to sign one.

No quality catchers in the system. It's Diaz or bust. Hey, we got out from under Lirianos 16 million dollars, that "flexibility" is all that matters! Lol

If McGuire was still in the organization, you would call him up if Cervelli gets hurt?

McGuire had some injury time last year, but put up some decent numbers at AA.. What happened to the Liriano money savings?

I want to see you defend they fact that 27 year old, total scrub Jacob Stallings is the only catching depth in this organization.

Come on.  Let me see you do it.   After all draft pics spent on catchers.   Lets see it

He's on the Blue Jays' 40-man roster. When healthy he really made strides last year. I wish he was on the Pirates' 40-man roster. This article says McGuire is the best defensive catcher in the Jays' system and could compete for the back up role at the MLB level this year.

I'm not disagreeing with the depth of the position. I just asked the board a question.

If McGuire was in the system and healthy and playing like he did last year, sure, I'd call him up if a catcher was needed.
