So a guy who will miss at least half the season but has a high upside takes #27, Nick Burdi. A carryover from last year's poll (#40) and a camp invitee, Pablo Reyes, gets added this time. Pending are Cody Bolton and Brandon Waddell (I've seen Waddell pitch a couple of times, unlike most of these guys).

The guy I'm surprised hasn't been voted in yet is Neverauskus, or however it's spelled. He's already made it to the bigs, and will probably throw a number of innings out of the Pirates bullpen this year. I'd be willing to bet the vast majority of guys still remaining on this poll never see the major leagues.

I think Bostick and Dovydas will both lose their rookie status this year. Not sure if Burdi will. I don't think Santana or Moroff have that much of a higher upside than Dovydas and Bostick, and they're already in.



I would also see Moran and Luplow see enough time to lose rookie status. And Crick, but basically he just needs to pitch once. (MLB rookie rule- 30 games pitched/50 IP, 130 AB). If they aren't a rookie any more or haven't played in the US yet I don't consider them for the poll.

I'm between Castro and Valerio, and went Castro. He had a more impressive line than Sanchez in the GCL last year.

Yeah... agree. I voted Castro in the last 2 polls.

According to an article today, Oneil Cruz is playing at SS and Hunter Owen is catching in spring training. If they had the same year at the plate last year at those positions they would probably be higher on the list.

That makes my day. For about a month I thought Owen might be a perfect fit for move behind the plate. I celebrated by voting for him.

Isn't Cruz 6'7" or something? A little big for a shortstop, it'll be interesting to see that.

Baseball prospectus lists him at 6'6, 175 pounds. He played 30 games at SS for the Dodgers org last year but only 1 for the Bucs, played 76 at 3B between the two.
