What's the poll go to, 50?



Start including regular Joe names.   "John Smith" and "Alex Anderson".   They only have a slightly less chance of having an impact.

The poll goes to 40. It has been the standard for as long as I remember that a player is not eligible for the poll until they have actually played in the US. Certainly Lolo Sanchez would have been in the poll last year, and Bae, Sherton Apostel and others would definitely merit consideration this year. But we would have had years where Michael De La Cruz would have been a top 10 prospect also...



Once a player loses rookie certification (>30 Games pitched or 50 innings, >135 at bats) they are not eligible for the poll. I know there is a service time element for rookies but that's not as easy to track (although I'm sure it's on BP somewhere).



One thing I would like to do this year is to run an occasional poll when a player loses their eligibility to say who's next. If a guy like Bae, Fabricio Macias, Sherton Apostel, or someone who has a breakout season in the minors has played in the US by the time Moroff, Luplow, Moran, Dovydas, Edgar Santana, Kyle Crick or someone else uses up their eligibility they will be in that poll. Although Kyle Crick will lose his eligibility the first time he steps on the mound during the regular season.
