Any update on Mercer?



I didn't see the replay of what actually happened to his hand/finger.

last I heard they were still saying "day to day." Jordy didn't sound too worried in an interview, though of course that doesn't always mean anything. Sounded to me like typical stubbing it on the base.

I hate those oven mitts players wear, but they are smart to use. As long as they are allowed, players should use them. I still feel it gives players an extra inch to reach the base and shouldn't be allowed.

Last I saw was 'day-to-day with finger discomfort' as well. X-rays were negative so hopefully it is nothing more than that. He jammed/stubbed it on the base when diving back to first on a pick-off throw.

If he can't play, that means a 3-man bench.

I think the question was whether he could grip the bat well enough to hit.

With 13 pitchers and 8 starters, there are 4 on the bench including Diaz. If Mercer can't play, that leaves 3 including Diaz.

per p2 he is available of the bench
