According to a tweet from the Pirates. Hopefully we'll get an extended look at Frazier at second. I like Rodriguez more than many, but if Frazier is the second baseman of the future let's see what he has.

Harrison Update: Josh Harrison was examined by Allegheny Health Network hand specialist Dr. Ed Birdsong today, and it was determined that he sustained a fracture to the 5th metacarpal of the left hand.

The estimated return to competition is approximately six weeks.

Frazier's hitting doesn't worry me much. He will actually take pitches and work the count. His fielding does worry me. He doesn't have the range of Harrison and he is inconsistent.

What do ya bet they bring up another pitcher? :P

OK. Probably Moroff coming up. He's the only other MIF on the 40-man. Though they could add one of Kramer or Newman. Neither is tearing the cover off the ball early though. I suppose they could add an OFer if they expect to give Frazier most of the 2B starts. Luplow would help against LHP which has been their krytonite thus far.

Harrison knew it right away based on his reaction. That sucks for him. I hope Frazier starts more games than Rodriguez. We have to assume more righties would be pitching against the Pirates too. Frazier's defense isn't very good, but if he is hitting it won't matter.

I'd call up the best bat available no matter the position. Rodriguez can back up. Freese can stand there too to finish a game.

My hope is that Harrison recovers quickly and that Moroff starts at second in the meantime. Defense (and I know you disagree, Dog) does matter.

Surprised to see that Harrison's OPS has dropped to under .700. Swapping Frazier for Harrison at the top of the order might actually get the offense going again.

But at the same time that might hurt the pitchers' numbers

Adam Frazier is not capable of fielding 2b well enough to make up for the bat he brings.   SRod fields well, but hits terribly.   (although vs LHP, he's ok)

Moroff please.  Because his defense is plus, it's possible that Moroff can provide power, OBP, and defense out of the position.

I know it will be Frazier but that's a mistake.  Frazier's glove is terrible there, and really I don't believe there's a possibility of him being a good starter with his glove as bad as it is.  his Minor league numbers don't disagree, so it's not a sample size issue. His glove stinks and  It's a waste of time trying to make him a 2b starter.

He would be lucky to be a 2.0 WAR hitting .300 with his glove as poor as it is at 2b.

If/ When Polanco or Marte miss time, I think Frazier starts in LF where his defense grades out about average in a small sample... but otherwise should be a reserve/ bench bat / PH/ spot-starter.

IDK...I'm kind of of the mindset that Frazier is the best option. Go with eh bat, and hope the glove doesn't hurt you. You can always sub Rodriguez in on defense in the later innings like they did with Pedro.
