Looks like this could be a Battery-powered game.... All Williams and Diaz.

Tough series. Four games, five runs, zero wins.

What sucks about this series is the Cardinals and Brewers both swept their series with the Reds and Marlins. This is what happens when you lose 6 of 7 games. The Pirates a week ago were 11-4 and 3 games up on everybody and they basically gave back all the great play they had to start the season with this horrible weekend. Hopefully they can right the ship and play better this week at home against both the Tigers and Cards. It will be pretty hard to play much worse then they did this past week.

Yea this week wasn't good. With the exception of 1 game, the offense has been a disaster over the last 10. And it doesn't feel like a blip, or a rut, either. It feels like this might be long-term.

And as you said, the Cards and Brewers too advantage of bad teams. They went a combined 7-0 vs. the Deads and Marlins.

Pirates went 5-2 vs. those two teams. That's fine, but it's not as good as 7-0, and it all adds up.

Let's be honest here. When Pittsburgh was 11-4, it feasted on bad teams. Yes, 1-1 against the Twins and 2-1 against the Cubs, but the rest are terrible. The Rockies and Phillies put the Pirates in their place. They will probably take care of the Tigers again, but the Card series will be interesting.

The Pirates lead the NL in wild pitches with 21. The Giants have only 1. The league average is 8 but already 11 different Pirate pitchers have thrown 1 or more with Brault leading the NL with 4 and Glasnow (despite his limited appearances) with 3.

I brought this up when they were winning. I don't know why this is happening. I don't recall too many third strike and runner safe last year, but seems this year there have been a handful. Crossing up the catcher doesn't help either. I thought the bad strike zones were the issue, but others teams aren't having that problem.
