Under the radar reliever

Every once in a while I like to scour the minor league stats for the heck of it. One player that surprised me today was relief pitcher Blake Weiman. Blake was an 8th round pick last year from Kansas. At West Virginia this year he pitched 28 innings in relief allowed only 21 hits, struck out 35, and only walked 2. He had an ERA of 1.29 and a whip of .82. Those numbers were good enough to earn him a promotion to Bradenton last week. He has allowed only 2 hits in 4 innings there so far. Long way to go but those stats call for an attaboy.
