"we would love nothing more than to get this club on track. To get the club for the 8th consecutive season, in a position to add in July." - Neal Huntington

1)  it's a lie. Well,  It's talking like a weasel by making up some ridiculous subjective benchmark of success.  So it can't be proven to be a lie, like many of the other claims made by our FO.

2) Only a loser talks like that. In a position to add?  Wth is that?   That's success??

He should have been fired last year.  Somebody fire this man before he does any more damage.   He should definitely not do another interview.

Losers should not lead.  The Pirates are the new Cubs. We've got a bleak future ahead of us folks.

yep, here is link to BucsDugout report on Neal's radio show today.

Neal has gone in my mind from someone who was trying his best under difficult circumstances to build a solid organization with a chance of winning to a despicable liar and shill. I find his answers today to be ludicrous and can't believe he came up with these when he basically knew the questions in advance and could talk to other people in organization to help form his responses.

I can't say that I frequent bucs dugout, but it's good to see that how I took that ridiculous interview seems to be what everyone there is taking from it.

We need a baseball leader, not some half-rate politician who talks in circles and moves goalposts all the time.   He has no idea what he's doing.  It's obvious.

His bullpen isn't even good this year. That was the one facet of his job where he had my confidence.

I agree with you on Neil's initial efforts, but now fear he's like some baseball players. He got that new contract and now he is mailing it in.

The real fear is that he'll see the end is near and he will pull a Littlebrains and start giving away any future talent we have so he can secure a position with another club. I have no idea how we get out of this mess. A owner who knows nothing about baseball a GM who can't do anything right, and might work out a sweet deal so he can get his next gig and a manager who doesn't care either way he's done just collecting his money. The city has a mess on it's hands.

I'm working on my NH translation skills.

“This is a young, talented and hungry club."

We counter that by giving them more rest than is needed and not playing our best lineups.

“It’s early, and again we’ve been a good team and a not very good team. We have been a not very good team for longer than we were hoping at this point....we will continue to take a look. We would love nothing more than to get this club on track, to get the club for the 8th consecutive season in a position to add in July. “

We suck.

“I think Sean would be the first person that would agree that he is not doing what he has done, clearly, and what he’s capable of doing. We are working through a stretch now, for two reasons. One, Yes, we had the rain out a few nights ago, but that’s really not an off-day. The second reason is that Sean has been working hard in the batting tunnel....working hard to make the adjustments, to make that right, and the only way to test that is to play in a game. “

We don't give a rat's ass how bad he is. We pay him a lot so he plays.

On how the club views Joe Musgrove, who has struggled over his last two starts:

“He is much closer to the guy who was the 36th best prospect in baseball...he had weapons enough, struggled as a starter last year...we have seen the guy that can throw the kitchen sink at you, with action. This is a guy with power. We see a competitor, a really strong baseball player who wants to go out and beat the opposition. He wants the ball, and wants the ball in situations. We see the guy who we believe has starting traits, and can be a good starting pitcher for years to come.”

We thought the benefit of a starting pitcher making barely over the MLB minimum far outweighed his 6.12 ERA as a starter last year.

1)  it's a lie....

This is what’s crawling around in my gut since the end of the 2015 season. By the time 2016 started I had gone from an out right apologist for the organization to being ballistic with my anger. I posted loud and often about how much the lying angered me. How the lying showed a total lack of veracity for the FO and a compete “finger” to the fans. And the lying would have consequences beyond their ability to manage.

And the lying has in fact literally KILLED this organization. It’s been 2 1/2 years. Today, I think the organization is actually in worse shape then when TBMTIB rode into town.

The lying. This is the consequence I could only imagine 2 1/2 years ago. I hate the lying 100 times worse then the incompetence that is also at work within the Organization.

This FO gave 2.5M fans the collective “finger” 2 1/2 years ago. That legacy is bigger then any success they managed for 3 seasons.

I think that if they had a legit owner and GM, they would be light years ahead of the org Nutting and NH inherited from McClatchey and Littlfield. The previous regime was so utterly incompetent they couldn't get out of their own way. The current regime proved they had the ability to make the team competitive. But having done so, they lost all interest because it was going to cost more than Nutting wanted to pay to sustain or improve the talent level. So we are left with a regime that essentially says that regardless of talent, they have no interest in being relevant if it will cost more than a minimal amount.

We used to think the reason they always failed was because Littlefield couldn't identify talent and if that could be corrected, there was reason for hope. But now we know that there is no hope regardless of talent because the current regime refuses to stray from their comfort level of the bottom 5 of payroll.
