Pirates v SD - redemption tour Part 2 game 1

Post by rucker59@gmail.com »

An opportunity for our Boys in Black and Gold to win back to back series.  Better yet, with the Dodgers waiting for the Boys, better if the Pirates actually try to win three against the Padres. Yeah, I’m talking to you Clint.

The West Coast means a late game.  But OBN Nation, spanning the globe, is certain to represent tonight.

With Bucs up 5-0 in the 3rd, things have taken an unexpected turn on the season.  Are the Boys in the midst of  miraculous 2018 season?  Excitement is building!

Musgrove pitching with a big league.

Pirates v SD - redemption tour Part 2 game 1

Noticed both Bell and Polanco each have two hits tonight. Tonight marks the half way point in the season. This only the 4th time, and the first time since May 15th, they had multiple hits in the same game.

Agree, Va. ... Pirates need to close this out with a W (unlike the way they handled a 5-0 lead in AZ a few weeks back), and they absolutely need a sweep in San Diego.

Wood, Kershaw and Hill are waiting in LA ... and that sounds like 3 straight no-hit bids to me.

But hey we're off to a good start tonight. Now let's FINISH it.

Gotta admit - should the Pirates show up in LA with a .500 record, there would be a lot of shocked fans including me. It feels like this team is 20 games under. Instead The season would still be in-play.

Polanco is swinging well and making good contact. Too bad they didn't let him work things out in AAA instead of having a dead spot in the order for so long. Bell is still not swing well but has been getting very lucky. His first hit last night was a short-armed swing that sent a soft liner to CF. His double was hammered into the hard dirt in front of the plate and bounced over 3B. It's hard to sustain that kind of luck for long.

Interesting that they always say don't make the 1st or 3rd out at 3B. Polanco made the 3rd out at 3B in the third and Osuna made the 1st out at 3B in the ninth. But a good game from Musgrove + 6 runs = a win. :D
