They're trying the wrong catcher at 1B. Diaz has shown his defense at C is not going to play over the long haul, and he hits like real 1Bman should. If Cervelli can no longer catch regularly as a result of his concussion history then the Pirates need to trade him ASAP for a MLB catcher or a catching prospect who is close.

I don't know if it is concussions or just positional flexibility. He did play some first base with Yankees (just 49 innings) and 5 innings at third and 3 at second. He started at third 6 times.

My bet is both concussions and positional flexibility. He would be more attractive to trade deadline buyers that way.
