I closed 1st poll with 26 votes in about 6 hours.

7 votes: Neal would “stay put”.

6 votes: Neal would acquire new starter.

10 votes: Neal would add to pen.

3 votes: Neal would add more than one player.



With ~10 hours to go, is Neal done or ready to add more? And is there any chance a blockbuster is in the works (Archer or above)?

In the 1st poll I voted for at least two acquisitions. I’ll stand by that, believing a starter is headed this way. I wish it would be DeGrom but expect more in line of a Sonny Grey (I’d consider that a blockbuster, at least for Pirates).



If Frankie comes back to Pittsburgh, that is NON-BLOCKBUSTER!

I agree it's a starter DeGrom or Archer are my top two and we have the assets to get it done and then we're serious contenders this year and the next two years.

I feel the same way: Neal is one acquisition from FINALLY finishing the team. DeGrom especially - I’ll take this team over anybody in MLB.

If that one acquisition is an upgrade too one of our infielders, I could get excited. Our IF as currently constructed just isn't good enough.

Yeah, it’s the weak spot on the team, but there appears to be real help not too far away in the system.

Because it's the Pirates there will be a contract going out.

I dont think so. The addition to payroll from Kela is about $400K I think. Even DeGrom would only add about $1.5. Surely they can add that much payroll.

but we want to take jabs at the payroll even on a day when we make a big deal . . .

Payroll is insignificant with the players we're recommending, also they can dump salary after the season.

Let's go get DeGrom, my top with Archer second choice. We have the prospects to get it done and I'd only hesitate at giving up Keller because of his talent.
