Hard to believe that the Rays do not have Meadows in the majors, particularly with the recent injury to the newly acquired Pham.

Current Rays outfield is a jumbled assemblage of younger players who generally are not performing all that well and Carlos Gomez who is having a bad year. Thought that the Rays would give Meadows a change to play and to demonstrate if he can be a major league contributor.

How close is he to qualifying for Super 2 status?

He may get called up now since Pham has a broken foot.

Good question and hard to know since it's vs other players service time and production. I think he would almost be assured of getting it if he played out the rest of the year in the bigs.

If Tampa's not going to try for a WC, they may want to keep him down. I was confused by how we had him up and not playing. It seemed foolish to be handing him that extra year of arb because he was resting on the bench. Play him more often, sure go for it. Sitting him that often seemed incredibly dumb.

Yeah. It didn’t make any sense to me either that they would keep him up adding service time and not play him. Once his torrid streak had clearly ended, I thought they probably should have sent him back down.

I really thought they only intended to bring him up for a short stay and that the torrid streak caught them by surprise. Hard to say he needs more development time when he's knocking the cover off the ball. I suspect the Rays have done the math (they are better at it than anyone) and are making sure they get that extra year from him - and, who knows, perhaps working on issues with him.
