The Braves lose to the Nationals today 6-3 so a win tonight can pull the Bucs within 4 games of that 2nd wildcard with 6 games still remaining head to head with the Braves. These are the days where the Pirates simply have to win when the Braves or whoever else they are chasing loses. You can’t afford to not pick up a full game in the standings at this point when you have a chance to do so. So another important game to win tonight to start this series in San Fran.

Brewers got beat by SD. Bucs are also chasing both Colorado and LA, who play each other tonight, so one of them will lose. Of course, one will also win, but that’s beside the point.  ;D

Every game is vital from game 1 to now. When your performance ceiling is sliding into a WC spot, it's going to come down to a couple games.

Play every game like it's September. Unless you're clearly a very good team, it's going to come down to a few games every season.

That’s why starting Holmes tonight is too much of a risky move and not playing and treating every game like it’s September. It might work out and Holmes could be lights out tonight that still doesn’t make it the right move to do. Especially when the rotation is pitching as well as it is right now. Don’t do anything stupid or off the wall such as this to screw it up.

The Braves swept the Marlins in a doubleheader yesterday and have now taken over 1st place in the NL East. Both the Phillies and Brewers are now tied for both the top and 2nd wildcard spots and the Pirates are currently 5 games behind both of them as the Phillies play the Red Sox 2 games and the Brewers play at the Cubs the next two games. So the schedule favors the Pirates you would think these next 2 games as they play the Twins. The Pirates I feel desperately need to win both of these games in Minnesota the next few days before coming home to play the Cubs on Thursday.

Taillon and Archer are pitching these two games in Minnesota and the Pirates need to win them both and I think they need to at least split the 4 games with the Cubs. They need a 4-2 week here in these 6 games they play this week with the Twins and Cubs. You got 6 games with the Braves and Brewers next week so a 4-2 week this week is absolutely critical if you want to stay in striking distance for one or both of those wildcard spots.

Cardinals are starting to put things together as well. Need to keep an eye on them.

They have won 9 of their last 11 and are currently just 2 games out of both wildcard spots. They have feasted on a weak schedule this past week playing teams like the Marlins and Royals but that’s what you need to do this time of year. Those 2 games the Pirates lost to them here at home last weekend still annoy me and are games I feel that Hurdle gave away and those two wins kind of jump started the Cards to go on the current little run they have been on over the last week or so

Yep, why doesn't NH fire Hurdle, just tells you he's just trying to please everyone instead of trying to win, which mean NH needs to go.
