Anyone heard any scuttlebutt on who the Bucs are considering for Hitting Coach? Pretty important they find someone who will click with the young Buccos!

So wish this organization would get it together and move forward! I'm beginning to feel like a Cubs fan when they were stuck in their seasons of loosing...I would love to see our Pirates win again in his lifetime. I'm 61... 8-)

They should be looking at guys in the development systems of the Red Sox, Yanks, Cards, etc. Look at teams that have shown an ability to develop hitters - especially from lower ranked prospects.

Did a quick check of those teams and there are a few that might look nice in the Burgh. But as I was looking at the AAA teams for those teams I did a team batting stats search for each league and what do you know. The Bucs actually have the guy in hand. Ryan Long the Hitting Coach for Indianapolis. Indy lead the league in OBP, BA, OPS and was middle of the road in SLG. No sense in making things difficult. Hire the guy now Neal!

I am hoping Ryan Long gets the hitting coach position. He was interviewed on one of the Pirate pre game shows on radio, and as he did the interview he was very informative on how he handles the young AAA hitters. As they continued the interview he would discuss how he worked with players like Newman, Luplow, Kramer and Stalliings. I think Long would be the perfect addition to the coaching staff.
