Not sure why this was written for a national pub -- and not sure why I ran into it since I don't read their stuff -- but it is an really interesting take on what the Pirates could do (a fantasy based on our current fiscal realities):

Wow. I feel that writer took my thoughts and wrote what I have been saying and thinking for many years. I recently posted about how a Harper signing made sense. See; I’m not insane after all!

Except that you would have known that we play in the NL and that we lost to the Reds in the '90 NLCS and not to the Braves. Yeesh. Who's editing these things? ::)

Yep. I remember it well. Right Fielder for the Reds robbed Carmelo Martinez of a two out game tying HR in the 9th inning of game 6 to end the Series

That 90 series was heartbreaking. But each year after was worse. 91 we come home with a 3-2 Series lead and get shut out in both games. In 92 Francisco Cabrera....no need to say anymore.

I have lived in the Atlanta metro area since 1981. Seeing, witnessing, viewing, watching our Pirates go down in flames to the Braves in 1991 and 92 was and still is very painful to watch. Jimmy Leyland had some very good teams. I have always felt those teams were good enough to be in the World Series if not for Cabrera and Bream...Beat'em Bucs! 8-)
