10 percent of Season: 10 Wins

So, we are off to a pretty good start. I like to measure the season into 10 16 game stretches with 2 extra games. 10 x 10 equals 100.

It’s been a pretty good start and could have even been better had the Bucs not blown the first two games at home against the Cards and that game with the Nats last weekend. The Pirates could easily be 12-4 or even 13-3 now. These next 7 at home with the Giants and DBacks are games the Pirates want to win seeing that after thatvthe Pirates play 16 of their next 21 games on the road in LA, Texas, St Louis, Arizona, and San Diego. So you wanna stack as many wins as possible going into that stretch of games that you can.

But watch out. The Brewers are now struggling but the Cards and Cubs are each in a 7-3 stretch. Fortunately, the Pirates are in a 9-3 stretch. And that's with some key players on the IL.

Well yeah. We should probably be closer to .500 than the top of the division (run differential +5), could we be overachieving because of good managing? ;)

But forget all that for now. FIRST PLACE!

I disagree. We blew both games against the Cards (and I’m not counting blown leads opening day in Cincy or the mid game with the Nats. We should be 12-4. We’ve controlled the games for most of the season.

As for run differential, I think it’s hogwash. We gave up 18.5% of our runs this season in one game. The SP’s have been elite, the pen, pretty goo, the offense, average, and defense, despite some early struggle, passable. This to me is 10-6

Well I mean yeah the whole thing is SSS. One good or bad game will really skew it. But we've scored five more runs than we've given up, and we've won four more games than we've lost. If we've lost games we should have won we've certainly also won games we should have lost.
