Today the Mets beat the Reds 1-0. Noah Syndergaard pitched the complete game shutout. The Mets' only run was a solo HR by Syndergaard (his 2nd of the season).

I agree with you, but I am getting the feeling the commissioner may propose the DH to the Players Union during the next negotiations. I have been a fan since the 1960s and I like the game the National League plays, but I think we may see the DH coming to the NL.

I went to a high school game recently and they had a dh and a courtesy runner.
I wasn't keeping score and didn't listen on radio so I didn't know the line ups.
At first I thought the courtesy runner was a pinch runner (but it was only the second inning).

Honestly, I can’t think of a good reason to have the DH. I hate it. It takes a ton of strategy out of the game, and it gives teams that actually have pitchers that can hit a major advantage (e.g. Bumgarner, Ohtani when playing in an NL stadium). So what that pitchers can’t hit...that’s precisely the point. Fangraphs likened it to this...the AL game is checkers; the NL game is chess.
I happen to be an avid chess player. I love the game, actually, and am a student of it in my free time. I like the chess match that is NL baseball, precisely because the pitcher has to hit. I can’t hardly watch an AL game, TBH.

one of the things that has happened to is that few pitchers are good bunters any more. It used to be expected that they would be decent bunters and the poor bunters were the exception.
Right now Zach Greinke has been best hitting pitcher this season. 375, with 6 hits in 16 at bats. 2 homers, 2 doubles and a triple (wasn't that against us?)
For perspective, Bucco pitchers have 5 hits this season, all singles with 2 walks.
