What a stud this guy is. I guess we blew it pretty good voting him # 27 but we didn't have a big sample size. He's 20 years old and only pitch a total of 70 innings in 2017 (26) and 2018 (44). He was drafted in the 6th round out of high school in 2017 . He was an over slot guy that was committed to Michigan Said to have thought to be a tough sign. This seems to be about the only thing the Pirates are adept at doing ?

Anyway , he is tearing up high A this year. He's 5-0 in six starts with and ERA of 0.77. Whip is the same as ERA .77 . 7BB and 36 K's in 35 innings. Said to have very good velocity.

I wonder if we'll get to see much of him in AA even if he continues to dominate high A ? They certainly are not going to let him pitch a lot of innings this year.

I don't know if I'd agree with this. Trea Turner, Walker Buehler, and now Nick Lodolo (top ten prospect in this year's draft) seem to indicate otherwise.

They seemed aggressive with Bolton's placement last year in Low-A. High school pitchers usually pitch in short season ball in their first full pro season. I thought maybe that was because Bolton was a little older for a HS pick (turned 19 right after being drafted).

But turns out he was just good.

I voted for him much higher than that. Just sayin'.
