Looking at the NL Central, the Pirates are the only team that has given up more runs than they have scored and yet they are 3 games over .500. They are a -35

The Cubs are +54

Reds + 30

Cards +20

Brewers + 5

That run differential is a bit misleading seeing that a lot of it based on 3 games. The 10-0 loss to the Cubs, the 14-1 loss to the A’s, and the 17-4 loss the other night in St Louis. Those 3 losses right there leave the run differential at -36. I think it should be some where closer to an even run differential.

Good point about the 3 losses. Actually the run differential could be much worse because of two losses to Arizona by the scores of 11-4 and 12-2. We owe the D Backs a little payback this week.

With 37 games played the run differential has been within 3 runs 28 times. The difference was 4 runs twice and 5 runs twice. There were only 5 times when the differential was greater than 5 runs (all losses). Which means that in 76% of their games, the run differential is within 3 runs. That's pretty consistent for close games.

pretty clever of us to keep consolidating all of our bad pitching into solitary games.
