Here’s a great thing to report: Marte turns a single into a triple (actually a single plus a two base error). Great Hustle.

Bell RBI

Bell got a double. But he’s completely out of sync. He’s left a lot of bae runners the past two days and looked awful.

Let’s hope this is a short slump.

He’s being too aggressive and is chasing all of the low outside pitches. Hopefully he looks at the video and starts letting those pitches go or every club is going to start exploiting him.

As great as Bell has been, he really cost the Pirates yesterday and today. Two tough losses

We are sunk regardless. Lyles has pitched well above his head thus far.

Bell had a historic May. He was hitting everything with power and was very consistent. There was going to be a slump coming at some point. The key is limiting its length.

I suspect he will adjust quickly enough. I also suspect pitchers will be pitching around him from now on. Up to now, a lot have treated him straight up. Whether pitching around Bell works will depend a lot of who hits after him and how that batter does.

The Pirates are too dependent on Bell. His R + RBIs - HRs = 78 runs either scored or driven in (not counting himself on HRs). That's 32% of all Pirate runs this season. That's great for Bell but shows how dependent they are on 1 player for offense. Just not enough hitting thru the lineup.
