Tough inning for Musgrove. He gave up 14 foul balls, had at least five pitches on or inside the strike box called balls, and an error by Dickerson.

Just a terrible start to this 2nd half of the season. It’s hard to have pictures these first four games after the break going this bad.

So tired of Marte taking plays off it’s just inexcusable how often he does it.

The pitching on this team has just been awful this season. Guys continue to get worse on this team instead of better. The Pirates seriously need to consider making a change at some point and get rid of Ray Searage. The Pirates have now been outscored 29-10 during this 4 game losing streak since coming back from the break. It’s been an absolute disaster so far. Gotta get this turned around and fast if you’re the Pirates. They desperately need to win these last two games in St Louis and find a way to somehow win this series

Not a great way to come out of the gate for the 2nd half. They need to win the next 2, period.

Pitching is becoming a problem...again. We have no ace to stop losing streaks. And the bullpen is meah.

At least we know we will be sellers at the deadline. We need pitching.

Seems like in recent years there have been numerous instances of Marte loafing to 1B and each time Hurdle talks to him in the dugout and pats him on the back and sends him back out there to do the same thing all over again. Marte probably chuckles to himself at the idea that Hurdle thinks this will make any difference. Marte needs to be removed from a game as soon as he does that, even if it's the first inning. He needs to get the message. I hope he's benched tonight but I'm sure he won't be. Some people credit Hurdle with being a good motivator. But Marte remains unmotivated.

Musgrove did little to help himself last night, but the big difference in the game was Dickerson did not make two plays that he should have made and Fowler made a play that he had no business making.

Dreadful start coming out of the all-star break. In short, enthusiasm that was picking up heading into the break has now been squashed.

Yea it’s very critical that the Pirates win both this series with the Cards and this series coming up with Philly at home if they wish to remain relevant in the race.
