It is clearly evident that the best player on the Pirates is not Josh Bell, but is Starling Marte. He has added more power to the speed and defense. He might be a 30-30 guy this year.

I agree he is and I don’t know what they plan on doing with Marte moving forward but if trading him is still on the table his value might never be higher then it will be this offseason. Trading him and Vazquez if the right deals are made which I don’t trust this current GM to do could really get a lot of good highly rated young players back and set things up for the next few years. The Pirates have to decide whether they are going to keep this team the way it is or start trading guys away. You can’t have it both ways and then not go out and spend money on pitching and not improve the team if you’re gonna hang on to Marte.

I think they consider this team as being on the edge of winning and won't trade any critical piece -- and Marte and Vasquez as well, fall within that definition. So I wouldn't expect to see either go anywhere.
