Pirates Claim Corban Joseph

Post by fjk090852-7 »

The Bucs claimed Corban Joseph off waivers. His MLB stats are not very impressive, but he has had success in the minors. If he remains on the roster through the offseason this could mean that Eric Gonzalez will be released.

Prior to November 20th there is going to be a lot of roster movement. They have at least 5 or 6 players on the 60 day IL, and then there are players they have to add to the 40 man roster to protect from the Rule 5 Draft at the close of the Winter Meetings. Some of these recent waiver claims are going to be removed from the roster.

What do you expect from the gang that can't shoot straight. Think a bit about what the pitching staff could look like if all these pitchers were handled differently.

1) Cole

2) Glasnow

3) Tallion... who knows if he has arm troubles if not a Pirate ?

4) Morton

In the wings Keller and Baz. I'm sure Keller would be terrific ...

All teams make these types of acquisitions. The problem is that other teams don't rely almost entirely on these types of DFA/waiver moves. This season the Pirates have acquired Stratton. Ramirez, Markel, Rios, Wang, Jerez and Joseph. The significant, established, productive players they have acquired are......... none.

Apparently Joseph was claimed to add another PHer to the bench since Marte and Bell are hurt which turns 2 bench players into starters each game. NH said Craig and Hayes were not brought up for September because they are not ready to produce at a MLB level. (Since when was that the criteria for September call ups who are usually brought up just to get a taste of MLB mostly from the dugout while picking up pointers from other MLB players and coaches and giving them even more incentive to excel in AAA the next year?) Joseph was hitting .151 this year for Oakland and SF. His career BA is .169. And that's based on a SSS of just 77 MLB ABs. In other words, Joseph has not yet demonstrated the ability to produce at the MLB level. Hard to believe Craig or Hayes couldn't produce at the level Joseph has demonstrated. Seems like another case of NH not being honest in his explanations.

This is a typical NH claim. Don't get this one. What's the point?

(One of)The infuriating part(s) of this is that NH and CH seem to think so lowly of us fans that they believe that we believe this line of BS that they feed us. Or worse, the BS is really what they think.
