I am taking the high road, while I have always liked Clint Hurdle, I think it is time for a change. New Blood! Who do you think will be the new Bucco Skipper?

I don't know who but am going to assume someone not currently in the organization.

I've seen speculation that Maddon will not get a new contract and some have asked if the Bucs should sign him.

Why would he sign here? He'd be much better off taking the year off and picking a better organization.

Besides, in the case of the Bucs, I don't think the manager makes that much of a difference. A fish rots from the head down.

I don’t think it will be a former MLB manager. I believe it will be someone who is not currently employed by the Pirates. A new face as well as a new message.

I would guess someone from the minor leagues getting his first opportunity - less expensive that way.

I can't imagine any retread mgr wanting that job (under Nutting). So I think the only ones who would work for Nutting would be stepping stone candidates trying to get their feet wet as MLB mgrs to get into the "Old Boy Network" to begin a career in MLB managing. But that's only in answer to the question "If we hire a new mgr." I really don't see that happening with 2 more years on CH's (or NH's contracts).

I think Clint retires. My guess...Cora or Bannister. I think Banny was already next man up. Not that I like either choice. The reality is, the organization is in such disarray, it doesn’t matter. The Vazquez thing was the icing on the cake, but there are so many holes, and so little help on the farm, we were three to four years from being competitive, best case scenario. Vazquez was our best trade chip, so unless the Pennsylvania State Penitentiary has some dude lighting it up for the slow pitch softball team that’s set to be paroled in the next six months, that ship has sailed. So, now, we’re realistically four to five years away from being competitive. Again, best case scenario, and with the PBC, it’s never best case scenario.

In all honesty, I believe the situation is hopeless. Even in 4-5 years they will never develop a solid, outstanding team just from maturing prospects. And due to arbitration and free agency it's likely that no players on the current team will still be Pirates 4-5 years from now. Holes not adequately filled by prospects will not be filled by productive veterans because they cost at least market value which is too much for Nutting. So dumpster diving will be the order of the day. Therefore, this team will always be a few players short.

Agreed. Six years ago, I remember writing that I didn’t care about who the 49ers (my NFL team) were playing. The Pirates were in the playoffs, and that’s all that mattered. This year, I haven’t watched a game since the debacle in Chicago post AS break. I don’t care about the team. Don’t care about any of it. The Pirates are dead to me. I couldn’t even tell you who they’re playing tonight or what the score is. Couldn't care less. But you’re right...barring a miracle, 2015 was the last playoff team we'll see. Maybe MLB will step in, but I doubt it. The Pirates make money, so at the end of the day, the other 29 owners don’t really care. The last thing they want is another team trying to win. So, since Manfred works for them, he won’t do anything. The other 29 teams have hope. It’s utterly hopeless as a Pirates fan. Even the Rays manage to be competitive in a division with the Yankees and Red Sox. This team doesn’t deserve one penny from fans.
