If this actually happens I still think it will be bad for baseball .

I think that the short-season leagues are doomed, if not now then soon. It doesn't make any sense to give a kid $100,000 or more, and then send him off to some random town where might or might not get effective training. Baseball players have to learn a lot of processes now that were undreamed of twenty years ago. They need consistent instruction, repetition, and feedback, and that won't work if your new kids are spread out all over the place.

I know that the NY Penn league is scheduled to be eliminated.
