With No Minor League Season, Play Our Best Prospects in MLB

Post by SyrBucco »

Just read an interesting article in Rum Bunter suggesting that the Bucs should start Hayes at 3rd Base given that he would otherwise be stranded in a wasted minor league season. I think the author, Marty Leap, is on to something. By extension, that also means Cole Tucker should be on an expanded MLB roster, and so should our best MiLB pitching prospects. Give 'em a shot in the bullpen.

Remains to be seen how they will handle options in this crazy year.

The downside of that is that it starts their service time clock earlier in a wasted season. Unless that is also addressed somehow I don't see the Pirates using up a year of control that way.

BOB would look at it and say never let a crisis go to waste. Pay all 25 players on the roster the League Minimum and he could pocket all of the rest.
